Friend, late last night I got back from Massachusetts. The team at Martha’s Vineyard Community Services pulled off their first hybrid gala and juggled it all!
- A non-traditional venue (a tent in the middle of a horse paddock, in a drizzling rain)
- In-person guests (maybe ~70 people)
- Virtual guests
- Celebrity star power
- New software
Despite so much being new, they made it work seamlessly and were still standing at the event's end.
It was impressive to see it come together. I’m so happy for them! And, their hard work has already garnered some excellent press and cool photos in the Martha’s Vineyard Times and The Vineyard Gazette.
I’m looking forward to the debrief. I made some notes of what I liked or what I'd consider changing moving forward, but I am most curious to hear the perspective from the guests. This is new territory for everyone, and what I assume is going well (or not) on stage isn't always the same experience of the guests.

P.S. Seth Meyers wasn't the only celebrity to make an appearance, but as emcee, he was the only one with a working role. As my brother is a big fan, I asked for this snapshot and texted it to Scott.
